Wedding Planning with Iceland Weddings and Honeymoons
The first step in wedding planning with our team, is reaching out to us via our contact page. Once our team has evaluated your needs we send you an quote for your special day. As soon as both parties have agreed upon the quote a legal contract is written up between both parties. After the contract has been signed and the basic planning fee has been paid, the wedding planning officially starts.
We start by sending the couple 5 initial emails. The emails include the following:
● Marriage License Paperwork Info (Before your wedding)
● Marriage License Paperwork Info (After your wedding)
● Celebrant (also known as officiants) list
● Wedding Photographers list
● In and Outdoor location lists
Legal Paperwork
Our team will send you in depth instructions on how you get legally married in Iceland. First we send you a timeline of when everything needs to be ready and turned in. Along with the timeline, we send you examples of the type of documents you are required to obtain.
Once our couples have gathered all of their legal paperwork, they scan them and send them to us via email. Our team will then look over the paperwork and proceed to send them to the District Commissioner’s office for their pre-approval.
As soon as the District Commissioner has pre-approved the paperwork, the couple ships all of the originals to the DC’s office. Once the DC has received all of the original paperwork they will issue a Certificate of Examination allowing them to be legally married in Iceland.

Wedding Celebrants
Not all weddings need to be with a traditional wedding celebrant. With Iceland Weddings and Honeymoons, we allow our clients to choose the best option for them. Some of our options for a legally binding wedding include the following:
●Traditional Celebrant (Icelandic Priest)
● Spiritual Celebrant
●Humanist Celebrant
● Pagan Celebrant
If our couples would like to have a family member or friend to conduct the wedding ceremony, the couple must either have a symbolic wedding ceremony.
Wedding Photographers
We send our couples a list of different photographers with different styles. With each photographer, is a link to their work along with their price point. Each photographer has their unique style in shooting and editing. allowing our couples to choose the photographer that best fits their needs, budget and style.
After reviewing the list, our clients let us know their preferred photographer. We reach out to that photographer for their availability and quote. If the photographer is available and the client accepts the quote, our team makes a formal introduction.
Do you want to use a photographer that is not on our lists? No worries, all of our vendors on our lists are a la carte, you pick and choose what vendor you might want/need.
Wedding Locations lists
Finally we send our clients the wedding locations lists. Our lists include over 60 breathtaking outdoor locations. Usually our clients send us their top 5 locations and we will send over a pros and cons list of each location. After that the couple picks their favorite location and we help them make an itinerary for the day.
