Danae and Sebastian originally reached out to our team at Iceland Weddings and Honeymoons in the middle of April, 2022. In March of the same year, Sebastian proposed to Danae while visiting Iceland. After the proposal they decided they had to have their waterfall wedding ceremony in Iceland as well. As both Danae and Sebastian are avid nature seekers. They really wanted their closest family members to experience the country they just fell in love with.
Ceremony Location
The couple decided on a gorgeous valley to have their wedding ceremony. This valley is the perfect place for a wedding in Iceland. In this valley you will find it has it all, numerous waterfalls, caves, basalt rock formations, and flowing rivers. Further more, in summer, it feels like a scene from The Lord of the Rings. In winter, it feels like you have ventured north of the wall in the Game of Thrones. A fairy tale setting if you will.
To enjoy this location to the fullest we would recommend having waterproof shoes, (we recommend knee high boots) allowing you to cross rivers and discover the magnificent waterfalls up close. Please note: for this location, you are required to apply for a permit in advance, and an additional permit if your photographer or videographer plans to fly a drone. The couple, along with their family stayed at the Luxury Lodge in Úlfljótsskáli. The Luxury Lodge is the perfect place if you have a small group (18 or less) and want to have everyone together during your stay in Iceland and is only one hour away from Reykjavík. The owners of the lodge are very accommodating allowing you to add on additional services such as filling the fridge, adding fire wood, before you arrive and even chef on site etc. Please note: If you have your wedding reception here, you are required to use their caterer to cater to your event.
