Iceland Waterfall Wedding / Lorna + Jake

In this blog we are featuring the beautiful couple Lorna and Jake.  Who had a Iceland Waterfall wedding. The couple had visited Iceland before and were determined that Iceland was the place they wanted to tie the knot, in particular they wanted to be married at an Icelandic waterfall.

Lorna and Jake originally reached out to Iceland Weddings and Honeymoons on September 20th,  2020. They wanted to have their wedding in Iceland on September 23rd, 2021.  This gave us plenty of time to work together in order to plan the perfect wedding they were anticipating.

The couple started their day at Hotel Frón where they were staying located in the city center. Their day started with Lorna and two of her guests having their hair and makeup done by our Iceland Wedding hair and makeup team.

Their wedding day itinerary started at 1 pm when the couple along with their guests were picked up and headed to their Iceland wedding ceremony location.  A gorgeous historic Iceland waterfall that sits on the Mid-Atlantic Ocean Rift.  Where Europe and North America keep drifting farther away from each other.  Making this location super unique.

Lorna and Jake decided to have a humanist celebrant conduct their wedding ceremony at the waterfall.

Humanism is a progressive philosophy of life that, without theism or other supernatural beliefs, affirms our ability and responsibility to lead ethical lives of personal fulfilment that aspire to the greater good.
– American Humanist Association

It was a beautiful ceremony despite the rain.  Did you know that it is said that rain on your wedding day means good luck?  The theory is that when a knot gets wet it becomes harder to untie, meaning your marriage will be everlasting.

After the couple said their I do’s they explored the area and had some wedding photographs taken then they proceeded to travel on to their next location.  A black sand beach!

Lorna and Jake had the perfect mix of what Iceland has to offer.  A waterfall, black sand beach and a whole lot of history.

The evening of their wedding day, the couple and their loved ones went to one of Reykjavík’s restaurant and bar Fjallakonan to celebrate their new chapter.

Our team helped organize the following:

  • Wedding Ceremony Location
  • Wedding Celebrant/Officiant
  • Wedding Photographer
  • Wedding Reception / Restaurant Booking
  • Wedding Flower Bouquet / Buttonhole
  • Hair and Makeup
  • Transportation

Iceland Weddings and Honeymoons also took care of all of the paperwork process and booked the appointment at the District Commissioners office (in the region they were getting married) for the couple.

Here are a few words from the bride:

“It rained the only day out of the week 🙁 however it was amazing ! The bus company was perfect, omg hair and make up girls !? Such lovely girls and so friendly !
Flower girl was there too and so was the photographer! Omg she was amazing and so lovely.
I honestly can’t thank you enough, your instructions were clear and informative
Thank you so much for everything. My travel agent has had women ask her about weddings in Iceland so I have passed On Your name to them <3 “

We would also like to give a huge shout out to Birta for capturing Lorna and Jakes special day and for allowing us to share their photographs with us.
