A Merry Waterfall Wedding

This months blog features the wonderful  couple Greta and Jacob that had a merry waterfall wedding in Iceland.   Greta and Jake along with their guests visited 3 locations through out the day following up with a super fun reception.  More on that later.

The couple reached out to us in June 2021.  Allowing us a whole year to plan the perfect wedding for the couple and their guests.

Iceland Weddings and Honeymoons helped the couple plan the following:

  • Marriage license paperwork along with booking their appointment with the DC
  • Wedding ceremony locations
  • Reception venue
  • Welcome drink venue
  • Photographer
  • Wedding celebrant
  • Transportation
  • Florist
  • Packed lunches
  • Wedding cake
  • Chair rental
  • Portable restroom rental and driver

Wedding Ceremony

Greta and Jake wanted to have their first look at the ceremony so Greta drove separately with her father so Jake would see her for the first time that day at the ceremony.   Greta and Jake had their wedding ceremony at a gorgeous waterfall in the south coast of Iceland.  What makes this waterfall so beautiful and symbolic is that it is 2 waterfalls that fall into each other just like one does in love.

They decided to have a spiritual ceremony.  Their celebrant wore his traditional priests robe. They had a sweet and short ceremony with their guests in tow.  They decided to read their personal vows.   Greta’s father is quite talented and built a wireless microphone to sync to their blue tooth speakers allowing their guests to hear the entire ceremony over the powerful sound of the waterfall in the background.

Pro wedding planner tip: If you are getting married at a powerful waterfall we highly recommend bringing either your own blue tooth speaker or renting one from one of our vendors.

More gorgeous wedding locations

After the waterfall wedding ceremony Greta and Jacob joined their guests on the bus to visit two other magnificent locations.  Another famous waterfall and the famous Reynisfjara Beach.

A lot of the locations you want to visit in Iceland do not have bathrooms or you have to pay to use the bathrooms.  The couple went above and beyond to keep their guests comfortable by renting a private portable bathroom and a driver.  This allowed their guests to always have a clean and private bathroom throughout the day.

Wedding reception

On Greta and Jacobs first date they went to a breakfast diner. They thought the perfect reception dinner should be breakfast food.  How cute is that?  The couple bought out the entire restaurant at Foss Hotel Reykjavík, Haust.  They also decided to add the traditional Icelandic Kransakaka for everyone to enjoy.

The night before the wedding the couple also invited their guests to  welcome drinks at the hotels Beer Garden.

Here are a few words from the bride and groom:

Our entire day was absolutely perfect and we loved every minute of it! You made our Iceland adventure wedding dreams come true and we feel so blessed to have been able to work with you. We loved working with every single one of our vendors! The celebrant and his wife were so hospitable in welcoming us to Iceland and made our ceremony unforgettable. Bragi was wonderful in getting every shot we wanted and enduring a long day with us. The porta potty vendors were phenomenal in helping us the entire day. The bus driver was very patient in our schedule and helped us get to each location safely.
We also cannot say enough great things about FossHotel Reykjavik and Haust!! The reception was more beautiful and delicious than I could ever imagine! Each of our guests raved about the food, drink, and dessert options. The staff were outstanding in taking care of each of our needs. They created the perfect dining experience and transformed the restaurant into the ultimate dance party afterwards, it was truly magical!
